ソニー・フィルハーモニック・オーケストラ プロフィール

The Sony philharmonic orchestra is an amateur orchestra of about 110 members, consisting with employees of Sony group companies, retiree and employees’ families. As you may know Sony has been closely connected with music in its history, and it was perhaps very natural to see a move in early 1980 to establish an orchestra in addition to the brass band which had been already active for many years. At last, in 1995 volunteers gathered together as an orchestra and their first concert was held in January 1996. Since then, we have continued to hold regular concert almost every eight months favoring classics, symphony and concerto etc. We also worked on the various project to invite famous soloists, collaboration with Sony Philharmonic Chorus, Special Concert of Symphony No. 9 conducted by Mr. Oga. In October 2008, we performed a special benefit concert at Carnegie Hall, US as a part of Sony CSR program. SPO was led by Maestro Daniel Harding with world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma as a guest soloist. Its proceeds have been contributed to New York City and we have been honored to receive a standing-ovation by full audience also for our performance there. Please continue your kind support and understanding to the orchestra, which acts not only as employees’ welfare but also as an orchestra which contributes to the society, the culture, and the region while attempting a further improvement on its music performance. |
